Ziele

Die Lehrveranstaltung gibt einen Überblick zur Visuellen Anthropologie und diskutiert die Bedeutung sowie die Entwicklung dieser kultur- und sozialanthropologischen Subdisziplin in Zeiten zunehmender Digitalisierung. Studierende erhalten so einen Einblick in die historische, gegenwärtige und zukünftige Relevanz der Visuellen Anthropologie.

Abstract

This paper introduces the case of an interactive technology enhanced learning model, its contexts and infrastructure at a public university in the Bologna era. From a socio-technological perspective, it takes a look at the conditions and challenges under which this flexible learning model for the social sciences has been developed. Furthermore, selected evaluation results, including experiences and expectations of social science students, are discussed. The paper concludes that it is possible, with the appropriate didactical model, to create and facilitate interactive student-centered learning situations, even in “mass lectures”.

Workshop “Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie des Sports” bei den 10. Tage der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie,

organisiert von Stefan Heissenberger (Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) und Philipp Budka (Universität Wien)

In dem wegweisenden Artikel “Sport, Modernity, and the Body” betonen Nico Besnier und Susan Brownell (2012), dass eine Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie des Sports zu einem bessern Verständnis einer zunehmend globalisierten Welt beitragen kann. Hinsichtlich der ethnologischen und kultur- und sozialanthropologischen Fachgeschichte, kommt dem Phänomen Sport allerdings nur eine äußerst marginale Rolle zu. Erst ab Mitte der 1980er Jahre konnte sich im anglophonen Raum eine Anthropology of Sport als kleine Subdisziplin formieren. Nun scheint auch im deutschsprachigen Raum das Interesse an diesem Thema stetig zu wachsen. Dies drückt sich neben einem Anstieg von einschlägigen Fachpublikationen, auch in wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen aus, wie etwa der Konferenz Anthropology of European Football in Wien 2013 oder dem Panel Die Wahrheit liegt auf dem Platz auf der DGV-Tagung in Mainz 2013. Mit unserem Workshop wollen wir dieser
Entwicklung ein weiteres Forum bieten.

Within a project different digital learning materials for the social sciences, particularly at the University of Vienna, were developed. This is a hypermedia learning and teaching document for introductory courses in social and cultural anthropology (in German).

“Diese Lernunterlage gibt einen einführenden Überblick zur wissenschaftlichen Disziplin der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie (KSA) mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf die Situation und die Arbeit des Instituts für Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie an der Universität Wien. Neben der Frage, womit sich Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie beschäftigt und wie sie sich theoriegeschichtlich entwickelt hat, werden ausgewählte Themenbereiche vorgestellt. Die Lernunterlage richtet sich vor allem an StudienanfängerInnen, kann aber ebenso als Informationsquelle oder Lehr- und Lernmittel für allgemein an der Kultur- und Sozialanthropologie Interessierte dienen.”

In the winter term 2012/2013, I am teaching a seminar on “Identity, sociality and communality in times of digital media technologies” at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna. Students in this course learn about and to work with different forms of identity construction and processes of sociality and communality, which have been made possible through digital media technologies, such as the internet. Students get a brief overview about identity concepts and the possibility to deploy them within empirical research projects.

Abstract
Dieser Beitrag befasst sich mit dem Studieren der Sozialwissenschaften in der Ära von Bologna, die neben der curricularen Umstellung auf  ein zwei- bzw. dreistufiges System von Studienabschlüssen und der Einführung eines  ECTS Leistungspunktesystems vermehrt auch eine Steigerung der Arbeits- und Prüfungsbelastung für die Studierenden mit sich bringt (z.B. Allenspach/Husfeldt 2012). Am Fallbeispiel der im Zuge des Bologna-Prozesses 2007 implementierten gemeinsamen sozialwissenschaftlichen Studieneingangs- und Orientierungsphase der Universität  Wien (SOWI-STEOP, http://esowi.univie.ac.at/) werden Herausforderungen, Strukturen und Entwicklungen in Bezug auf die spezifischen Charakteristika der Studienbeginner/innen diskutiert und studentische Erwartungen und Bewertungen beleuchtet.
